Course description

It is only possible to move into a subsidised flat under certain conditions. Therefore, an application for registration need to be sent to the Office for Housing and Migration.

As part of the processing of your application, the private space requirement (concept: 1 room per person, a different living-room is not provided) and the urgency of the housing search will be identified. The urgency is categorised on the basis of a points table. Depending upon the level of earnings, registration stands for a maximum of two years from the date of the decision.

During this duration, you can search for flats on SOWON and use. The five candidates with the highest urgency will then receive a written offer of accommodation (election) with the contact information of the property managers to view the accommodation. The property managers then decide who gets the flat.

You can submit your application online on SOWON or using the paper type. You can discover more details on online applications in the flyer "Online housing application" and in the explanatory video "Online housing application".

After registration (notice), you will be revealed all offered subsidised flats on SOWON that match your home. You can look for up to 3 flats at the exact same time. You can find an introduction of the housing search via SOWON in the leaflet "Housing Search Online".

Munich Model flats are not offered on SOWON, but are assigned straight by the property owners. You can find current housing offers on residential or commercial property websites such as ImmobilienScout24.

Depending upon the size of your household, it may take a number of months and even numerous years before a flat can be placed. We suggest that you continue to look for flats on the open rental market.
